Conditions for submitting applications for the grants of the RGS
Any person or organization can apply for a grant on any topic corresponding to the list of categories.
Applications are accepted only through the unified electronic system on the website grant.rgo.ru.
Only registered users can use the unified electronic system.
RGS Grant Categories
- Initiative grants are aimed at supporting the projects initiated by the President of the Society, the members of the Board of Trustees and the Governing Council, as well as the councils and commissions of the Society.
- Grants from regional branches are aimed at the implementation of projects recommended (supported) by the regional branches of the Society. Applications for these grants are subject to preliminary examination by regional experts after they have been submitted through the unified electronic system on the website grant.rgo.ru . If an application has been highly evaluated by the regional experts, it is considered to be supported by a regional branch of the Society.
- Media grants are aimed at media support for projects of the RGS from among regional and initiative ones, as well as projects in the field of popularization of geographical knowledge and the activities of the Society (independent media grants).

- Media support of the RGS projects from among regional and initiative ones

The main criteria of the grant competition
- Openness to accept applications, and equal access to grants.
- Transparency of the application review procedure.
- Support for the projects based on the principles of co-financing.
- Prospects for further implementation of the project after the end of the grant funding.
- The grant project is funded for a period of 1 year.
- The name and content of the grant project should not coincide with the name and content of any planned research carried out in the organization and funded from the federal budget.
- The amount of expenses for the full-time employee salary should not exceed 65% of the grant amount for the category "Conducting theoretical and applied scientific research" and 50% for all other categories (including all taxes and fees).
- Transparency of the results of the grant project implementation. Separate reports revealing the content of the implemented grant project, its goals and objectives, the results obtained, conclusions, and photographs will be posted on the website of the RGS.
