2019 Grant Competition
Applications for initiative grants and grants of the regional branches of the Russian Geographical Society for 2019 were accepted from September 15 to October 23, 2018.
The deadline for media grants applications will be announced later.
Any person or organization is welcome to apply for a grant. Applications are accepted only through an electronic system on the website grant.rgo.ru. Registration is required to use it.
The grant competition results will be published on the website of the Russian Geographical Society in May 2019. Follow the news.
Grant Categories
• Initiative grants are aimed at supporting projects initiated by the President of the Society, members of the Board of Trustees and the Managing Council, as well as councils and commissions of the Society.
Application Procedure for an Initiative Grant
• Grants from regional offices are aimed at supporting projects submitted by regional offices of the Society.
• Media grants are aimed at media support of the Russian Geographical Society projects from among regional, target, initiative, as well as projects in the field of popularization of geographical knowledge and the Society's activities (independent media grants).

Applications for initiative grants must necessarily contain a letter of support from members of the Board of Trustees or the Governing Council or a protocol on nominating a project from the boards and commissions of the Society.
Grants from regional offices are subject to preliminary examination by regional experts.
The Media Council considers grant applications for media support of the Russian Geographical Society’s projects (regional, initiative) and applications for independent media grants.

The main criteria for the grant competition
- Openness to receive applications and fairness of grants.
- Transparency of the application review procedure.
- Co-financing project support.
- Prospects for the further implementation of the project after the end of the grant financing.
- The grant is funded for a period of 1 year.
- The name and content of the grant should not coincide with the name and content of any planned R&D performed at the organization and financed from the federal budget.
- The sum of expenses for the remuneration of full-time employees should not exceed 65% of the grant amount in the nomination “Conduct theoretical and applied research” and 50% for all other nominations (including all taxes and fees).
