The exhibition of the works by the finalists of the Russian Geographical Society's contest "The Most Beautiful Country" opened on May 10 at the Russian House of Science and Culture in Paris. The exhibition, organized within the framework of the project "Today I Will Visit ...", is dedicated to the residents of the Arctic regions of Russia.
The purpose of the project of the RGS Center in France "Today I Will Visit ..." is to conduct a series of educational events (exhibitions, lectures, intellectual games, film screenings), telling the general public about the Russian regions.
Svetlana Zhilina, Acting Director of the Russian House of Science and Culture in Paris, and the representative of the RGS in France, addressed the guests with a welcoming speech. Alexander Saburov, Director of the Institute for Strategic Arctic Studies of Northern (Arctic) Federal University, took part in the event via video call. He spoke about the innovative educational project "Arctic Floating University".
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by the president of the non-profit organization The Cousteau Society, the widow of the legendary scientist Francine Cousteau; laureate of the Crystal Compass Award, traveler Jean-Louis Gouraud; Charge d'affaires of Belarus in France Kirill Grushevsky; French writers, geographers, and students.
