A presentation of Alexander Galkin's book "The Reserve Trails of Krasnaya Polyana" took place at the Moscow headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society.
In the new edition, the author collected extensive local history material on the main stages in the history of the development of Krasnaya Polyana. Each chapter of the book is devoted to real figures of science and literature, thinkers and philosophers who visited this beautiful natural corner and left written testimonies, memoirs or books.
Thus, along with widely known information about the life and work of remarkable scientist, honorary member of the Russian Geographical Society Yury Yefremov, the publication includes new data on his organizational activities, such as the fight against the project of transferring the sewage of the northern rivers, in which he took part in close cooperation with outstanding Russian thinkers of the twentieth century L . Gumilev and I.R. Shafarevich.
Both the book and the lecture pay considerable attention to representatives of the name-worship movement in the Caucasus and, in particular, in the vicinity of Krasnaya Polyana. Referring to a relatively recent book by V.D. Prishvina "Invisible City", the author has collected unique information about meetings of Russian religious philosophers, writers V.I. Ivanov, V.F. Ern, N.V. Nedobrov with desert monks in the village.
In his presentation, Alexander Galkin, the head of the Representative Office of the Krasnodar Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the village of Krasnaya Polyana, explained a number of symbolic events of that century when the attention of not only the whole country but the world was focused on a small village lost in the mountains.
The presentation was welcomed by the guests with great interest. The listeners were workers of the Institute of Geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University, employees of the Iris Press publishing house, famous documentary writer V. Shuvannikov, professor-philologist of Saint Tihkon's University, a specialist in social design I. Galanova and others.
